The following is a list of schools in Colorado using the Core Knowledge Sequence at various levels of implementation. Please see the Core Knowledge Foundation's website for their formal list of schools.  Schools listed with no symbols next to their names are considered "Friends of Core Knowledge." This means that a school has officially begun implementation of the Core Knowledge Sequence and has agreed to make three basic commitments: 1) they agree to teach all of the topics included in the Core Knowledge Sequence; 2) they agree to teach the topics at the grade levels assigned by the Sequence; and 3) they agree to teach the topics to all students. Full implementation is not required to join the network of schools, but there is an expectation that within five years full implementation will be achieved. Schools with the Official Core Knowledge School symbol next to their name are considered Official Core Knowledge Schools. To become an Official Core Knowledge School, a school must do the following: 1) make the commitment that 80% of the teachers in grades K-8 will teach a minimum of 80% of the Sequence in the first year and that over time (preferably within three years) all teachers will teach all of the topics on their assigned grade levels; 2) collect and send in supporting documentation that includes: a) a copy of your school's yearlong plan, indicating when each of the Core Knowledge topics is taught (the plan can be organized by month, quarter, or grading period) and plans for each grade level should follow the same format, b) a copy of one lesson on a Core Knowledge topic, written at your school; and 3) send in your completed Self-Evaluation Form to demonstrate that you meet the Official Core Knowledge School requirements. For more information on being listed as a Friend of Core Knowledge or becoming an Official Core Knowledge School, please see the Core Knowledge Foundation website.
